What Is an Exceptional Dental Office?

When it comes to patient safety, not all dental practices hold to the same standard, in fact, I find that the majority of dental practices I come into contact with for the first time meet government standards, which happen to be the bare minimum. However, once I present the ideology of "patient compliance" and the methodology for achieving "excellence in patient safety and infection control," most offices rise to the challenge.

What is patient compliance?

Establishing and maintaining a patient safety standard that goes far beyond government standards. Many who embrace mediocrity will think it's unnecessary and "overkill". For others, patient and staff safety is paramount and not an option.

What is excellence in patient safety and infection control?

Commitment to Patient Compliance - The standard of practice must be to provide each patient with the highest quality of care, with the highest level of safety, no matter what the cost or cost. This means exceeding the requirements set by government agencies such as the Consumer Affairs, Dental Board, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Health Services, and OSHA. The attitude of the staff is to always raise the bar and never, ever settle for less!

Commitment to Excellence – This means that every employee has a burning desire to add value to everything they do and to focus only on results. They are ready to become experts in preventing cross-contamination and accept that their success is their responsibility.

Commitment to Dentistry –
Make no mistake, dentistry is hardcore healthcare, and with the potential exposure to diseases like hepatitis, tuberculosis, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, and the H1N1 flu to name a few, there is no place for amateurs. Today's dentists need to know more in order to do more and are therefore committed to continuous education and skill development. They realize that they need to invest in themselves to help others. They are not in it for the money, but for the people they serve.

Exceptional dental practices are real - remember - I work side-by-side with the staff at these practices to bring them to levels well above government regulations and requirements. I personally witness the hard work and solid commitment of the staff to adhering to the living will. When it comes to patient and staff safety I make no bones, in my opinion, you make it or you don't make it, therefore the offices that I refer to as "Exceptional Dental Offices" are the offices I would go to myself, to get dental treatment. Make no mistake, these practices are legit and only 2% of the dental practices I come in contact with are on the list!
